BioLuna Astrid Lovegood
Luna graduated Hogwarts with her best friend Ginny and the Golden Trio in 1999. There was never any doubt in her mind as to what she would do after graduation: write for the Quibbler, the small newspaper her father edits. Xenophilius Lovegood's health began failing soon after the war, meaning that Luna has taken over more and more responsibility with the paper. While she loves writing for the Quib, she's not sure she likes being in charge of it.
Luna's had to grow up a lot in the five years since the war. First because of her father's ill health, but also because of a failed romance with Seamus Finnigan. Luna had started to imagine wedding bells with her boyfriend, only to find that Seamus had another witch in Ireland that -- judging by their hasty marriage and the birth of their son four months later -- he was more serious about than her. Since the breakup, she's been living with Ginny Weasley at Orchard's Gate, a house they rent.
Xeno's health has started to improve in the last few months, giving Luna the freedom to focus on something other than the paper.
Year One in Review: Luna started off the year with an out of character action: she turned to Blaise Zabini for a night of sexual healing. While it was a fun experience, it was not one she particularly cared to repeat, especially the portion where he called her "Hannah". Next she tried dating Ron Weasley, which failed miserably after a single date.
Her friendship with Harry Potter continued to grow, however, and the two of them would have lunch or dinner quite often. Another friend, Mac MacDougal, insisted that the two were made for each other, but Luna laughed the idea away. As far as she was concerned, there was no way a guy like Harry would consider her anything other than a friend.
Ex-boyfriend Seamus Finnigan showed up in Febuary, only to get a smack down by several of Luna's friends. She was shocked when she found out, of course.
In April Luna traveled the the Shetland Islands to investigate a missing Dementor for the Quibbler. While there, she was attacked by Dementors and was shocked when her Patronus came out, not as a rabbit, but as a stag. She knew from her friendship with Harry that a Patronus could change to represent the person the caster was in love with. But she wasn't in love with Harry. She couldn't be!
It wasn't until mid-May that the two got everything sorted out. They've been dating ever since, though have managed to keep the relationship out of the public eye.
Luna also officially joined the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix, though in a support capacity only. Harry worries that she'll get in too deep anyway.
Now that Ginny has moved in with Draco Malfoy, Luna has two new room mates, Penelope Clearwater and her son, Jack Weasley.
No one knows what the coming year might yet bring for Luna. But with any luck there will be more ups than downs.
